Absolute waterfront guest house with a private sauna, Lauderdale
Booking direct means no platform fees on top, and you're dealing with us the whole way through.
info@thesalthouse.com.auSalt House is a private waterfront guest house in Lauderdale, tucked inside Mays Beach with Frederick Henry Bay laid out in front of it. This sun-filled two-bedroom retreat sits right above a private beach, with an outdoor sauna and shower hidden in the coastal scrub, water in every window, and the light changing all day long.
It is a place for watching sea eagles soar and black cockatoos move through the sky, for a coffee from Brine in the morning or a martini as the bay turns silver. Walk the rolling hills out to Mays Point, take a sauna before the sun rises or after it sets, and let the private beach be yours.
Begin each day with sunrises straight across the bay, then swim from the beach below or sit in the sauna with the sound of the water close by. The outdoor sauna is your space — no timetable, no performance, just heat and cold and the salt air in between.
Explore the Tangara Coastal Trail from the door, paddle the sheltered coastline, surf the right-hand point breaks right out the front of Lauderdale or around the corner, or simply sample our collection of vinyl while you watch the light change over the bay.
As evening settles, return to the warmth of the living space, where panoramic water views, a curated collection of books and vinyl records, and a glass of Tasmanian wine set the scene. Salt House comfortably accommodates up to four guests across two beautifully appointed bedrooms.
Please note: Salt House is connected to the main residence by an architecturally designed bridge. Privacy is maintained by a fence and shrubs, but this may be a consideration for some. To keep the native scrub and wildlife undisturbed, Salt House is not dog-friendly — bring the dog to The Seakeeper instead.

Heat up before sunrise or after sunset in the outdoor sauna — surrounded by coastal scrub and birdlife.
Tasmanian select wines, fresh oysters and cheese — maybe take a rug and have them on the beach or sauna deck.
