The Salt House — Lauderdale accommodation with private sauna

The Salt House is a private, absolute waterfront guest house overlooking Mays Beach and Mays Point at Lauderdale. Sunlight moves through this architect-designed two-bedroom retreat, with Frederick Henry Bay in every window, a secluded beach below and a private outdoor sauna and shower tucked into the coastal scrub.

Inside, natural textures, handcrafted details and simple contemporary comforts keep the house warm and quietly considered. Two queen bedrooms sleep up to four guests, making it a place for couples or close friends to settle in and slow down.

Wake to sunrise across the bay, walk down for a swim, then come back salty for coffee. The beach is yours to wander, the sheltered water is there for a paddle, and the house gives you a front-row seat as the light changes across Mays Point.

The sauna is an experience of its own. Descend through the native coastal garden, take the heat at your own rhythm, cool under the outdoor shower or in the bay, and listen to black cockatoos and kookaburras moving through the trees.

As evening settles, return to panoramic water views, the record player and a carefully collected shelf of vinyl and books. Open a Tasmanian wine, put something on the Sonos and watch the bay turn silver.

Please note: The Salt House is connected to the main residence by an architecturally designed bridge. Privacy is maintained by a fence and shrubs, but this may be a consideration for some. To keep the native scrub and wildlife undisturbed, The Salt House is not dog-friendly — bring the dog to The Seakeeper instead.
